RALLY: We Can! Arts Fest Presents: Super Sheroes Workshop

It’s back! The free Arts Fest from WE CAN Singapore, with an exciting line-up of visual exhibitions, performance art, music, workshops and voices.

One of the most exciting, and perhaps controversial, parts of the comic universe is its female characters. Their background stories, their bodies, their costumes and their battles have captured the attention of millions.

Recent conversations have called these aspects into question, particularly in relation to coverage of female stories and their anatomically unfeasible bodies in comics. Join us for a discussion with comic book specialists on female representation in the comic, manga & graphic novel fields to explore the ways in which comics propagate or challenge harmful gender stereotypes.

Singapore Committee for UN Women works in collaboration with We Can! Singapore for this workshop. We Can! Singapore hopes to spread awareness and action for a society free of gender-based violence, one person at a time.

Addressing the normalisation of gender based violence challenges the current narratives within comic books and is in line with our Help Anna campaign.
